honoring the sun.
a summer solstice day retreat in lagunitas, ca.
Gathering when the sun stands still · Saturday, June 20th
the literal meaning of "solstice" (sol = sun / sistere = to stand)
& for one day, so will we ☀️

Every year when the solstice rolls around, I feel this pull to mark the moment. To slow down before the pace quickens, the temperatures rise, and everything else feels full speed.
A few solstices back, I attended a pagan witchcraft retreat with my teacher, Amanda Yates Garcia, full of ritual, remembering, connecting to the elements and to one another. I left feeling powerful, embodied, and struck by how important it is to honor these ancient markers of time as thresholds, special doorways into magic and deeper intimacy with the web of life, with the earth.
Doing this with others is also the missing piece. I have my own practices and rituals, but doing them together in a group, how they’ve always been done, is something I know I’ve been missing from my life, and am aiming to change.
This is a day to honor the sun at its height together. To be outside with good people before summer slips into its own rushing current. To tend to yourself before the calendars fill, the pace picks up, and the season asks everything of you. A day that belongs just to slowing down, so you can show up for everything else with renewed life force.
We’ll spend the day together in the hills of Lagunitas - hiking in the morning while the air is still cool, stretching into our bodies, sun honoring rituals and reflection, making special summer solstice herbal medicine together, sharing a seasonal farm to table lunch, swimming, resting, sunbathing, sauna, and magic woven throughout.
My hope is that you leave feeling the way I felt after my first summer solstice retreat - connected, embodied, regulated, full of life force and vitality, with a creative spark lit inside you.
& for those of you who have gathered with me before know what I mean. There’s something that happens when women intentionally slow down together in a beautiful place - sweetness, safety, nervous system regulation, feeling seen, happiness, joy, magic, and connection.
Here’s what the day holds:
— A morning hike through the hills
— Herbal medicine making, we’ll craft special summer solstice herbal medicine to take home, plus recipes and instructions so you can recreate this practice yourself
— Seasonal energetics & wellness wisdom by learning about nutritional shifts, herbs to lean on, and practices to hone so you can feel your best throughout the heat of summer
— A farm to table lunch, made with my love and care
+ accommodating to all dietary needs
— Free time to swim, sunbathe, sauna, wander, or rest
— Curated flower essence blends to help us all really sink into the day
— A sweet, healthy afternoon treat
— Opening and closing rituals to mark the turning of the season
